"Hi, my name is Paul and I am 57 years old."My sister Brenda, is currently chair of the CCAA committee and also spent many years as a nurse specializing in the treatment of children with arthritis.
"Through Brenda I have heard a lot about the great work the CCAA does to support the children who are diagnosed with JIA especially the annual weekend in the New Forest. I am pleased to have this opportunity to help with some fundraising.
"I have always done some form of exercise or sport and I know I am very fortunate that I have had that option. 10k is about twice the distance I would normally run / jog so although I am a regular runner I think still represents a challenge worthy of sponsorship. At the moment I am running varying distances about three times a week either cross country or pounding the streets. I attend a circuit training class every Sunday and also do a bit of light weight training and probably most important of all regular stretching. No major injuries or illnesses so far so fingers crossed on that score!
"Thank you in advance for your support."
"Well what a day! The weather was fantastic - perhaps a little too hot for running, nevertheless the team all seemed to cope well with the conditions.
"The atmosphere among the runners and the 'kerb crews' lining the route was really great and the CCAA supporters at the finish were suitably loud. The organisation, water stations etc were all very professional.
"Despite this being a great opportunity to take part in a fantastic event of course the main thing is that I was able to raise funds for a very worthwhile cause. Thanks again to everyone who sponsored me and thanks to all at CCAA for helping me be part of a really enjoyable day."
Paul
